This short video is a quiet visual experiment inspired by the Northern Michigan landscape, the night sky, and the kind of atmospheric beauty we are lucky to experience here in Traverse City and on the Old Mission Peninsula.
The video features an aurora-inspired Northern Michigan scene that has been enhanced with AI. It is one of our early creative experiments using artificial intelligence as a visual tool — not to replace natural beauty, but to explore how digital tools can help amplify mood, light, color, and atmosphere.
Exploring AI as a Creative Tool
At Traverse City Web Design, we are always experimenting with new technology. Sometimes that means improving website performance, working with SEO tools, building smarter WordPress sites, or helping clients understand how digital platforms can support their business.
Other times, it means simply playing with new creative tools.
This aurora video is part of that process. It gave us a chance to explore how AI can be used to create short, ambient visual pieces that reflect a sense of place. In this case, the inspiration comes directly from Northern Michigan — the quiet sky, the water, the woods, the changing seasons, and the strange magic of seeing color move across the night.
Rooted in Traverse City and Old Mission Peninsula
Traverse City Web Design is based in Traverse City, Michigan, near the Old Mission Peninsula. This landscape shapes a lot of how we think about design.
Northern Michigan has a distinct visual identity: clean air, dark skies, blue water, cherry orchards, vineyards, forests, snow, fog, sunsets, and long stretches of quiet. Those elements often influence the way we think about websites, branding, and digital storytelling.
This video is a small reflection of that.
It is not a polished commercial. It is not meant to be loud or overproduced. It is a short ambient piece — a calm visual moment that combines Northern Michigan atmosphere with early AI-enhanced experimentation.
