We’ve started creating a series of ambient videos featuring the natural beauty of Northern Michigan — a place near and dear to our heart.
Our newest video, Northern Candy Sunset, is a peaceful 50-minute sunset filmed from the end of a long dock on Old Mission Peninsula, facing west over Grand Traverse West Bay. The camera is positioned about 16–17 miles out on the peninsula, looking across the water as the evening light slowly shifts through gold, peach, pink, and soft summer blue.
The video was shot with a GoPro HERO13 Black using an ND16 filter, giving the water a gentle, calm movement and allowing the sunset to unfold in a soft, natural way. There is no narration, no music, and no distraction — just the quiet rhythm of the bay, the changing light, and the peaceful feeling of a Northern Michigan evening.
At Traverse City Web Design, we spend a lot of time thinking about how place, atmosphere, and visual storytelling shape the way people experience a website, a brand, or a piece of content. These ambient videos are a simple way for us to share some of the landscapes that inspire our work and connect us to this region.
Put it on while you work, read, write, relax, or simply want a little Up North beauty in the background.
