Welcome to Fantasy Drag Race — a weekly, points-based game where players build a team of queens, predict outcomes, and rack up points based on performance, drama, and those truly iconic moments that live rent-free in our heads – from our favorite TV show.
Somewhere between doom-scrolling Instagram and pretending we were “just doing research,” we saw someone else doing this… then realized a LOT of people are doing this… and thought, “yeah, we’re absolutely stealing this idea.” But like any good designers, we didn’t just copy it — we over – designed it, added glitter, made it way more complicated than it needs to be, and called it our own.
Brought to you by TraverseCityWebDesign.com, a crew of designers who probably spend just as much time watching RuPaul’s Drag Race as they do building websites — this whole thing exists for one very honest reason: we love this show and we love games.
Pick your queens wisely… and may the best fantasy player win.

1. Team Selection
Each player submits their picks before Episode 1 — this is your moment to read the cast, trust your instincts, and build a strategy that can carry you through the entire season.
Some players will go safe and stack their team with obvious front-runners. Others will lean into chaos, betting on queens who might crash, burn, and then suddenly win an episode out of nowhere. There’s no single right approach. You must pick:
- Winner Pick: 1 queen you believe will take the crown
- Finalists: Top 3 or Top 4, depending on the season format
- Favorite 5 Queens: Your core team for weekly scoring
Winner and Finalists are selected independently and do not have to be included in your Favorite 5. This gives you flexibility to separate long-term predictions from weekly performance strategy — you might believe a queen wins the season based on story-line and consistency, while building your weekly team around queens who rack up points through wins, drama, or standout moments.
Your Favorite 5 Queens are the engine of your score. They will earn the majority of your weekly points through challenge placements, performances, and all the unpredictable chaos that unfolds each episode. Choose wisely — because this team isn’t just about who you like, it’s about who you think will actually deliver when the lights hit the runway.
How To Keep People from Choosing The Same Teams
A. Ownership Limits (Most Effective)
Limit how many times a queen can be selected across all players.
- Each queen can only be picked by 2–3 players max
- First come, first served
- Once a queen hits the cap, she’s locked
Why it works:
Keeps flexibility while forcing diversity. Still feels casual.
B. Unique Captain Rule
Each player selects one Team Captain:
- Captain earns double points
- No two players can have the same captain
Why it works:
Even if teams overlap, scoring diverges quickly.
C. Anti-Duplicate Penalty
Allow duplicates — but punish them.
- If more than 2 players pick the same queen:
- That queen earns -1 point per extra duplicate
- Or loses bonus eligibility
Why it works:
Soft discouragement instead of hard restriction.
Draft Option: Snake Draft Team Selection
Instead of everyone submitting teams at once, you can run a live Snake Draft — a turn-based system that keeps teams unique and adds a whole extra layer of strategy and tension.
Before Episode 1, all players gather in person or online and draft their queens one pick at a time. This is where the game really begins — reading the cast, watching reactions, second-guessing picks, and trying not to panic when someone takes your top choice.
Some players will play it safe and lock in obvious front-runners early. Others will lean into chaos, grabbing wildcards, drama queens, or sleeper picks that could explode halfway through the season. There’s no single right approach — but once a queen is taken, she’s gone.
How the Snake Draft Works
- Determine a random draft order.
- Players take turns selecting one queen at a time.
- Once a queen is picked, no one else can select her.
- The order reverses each round. This is the “snake.”
- Round 1: Player 1 → Player 2 → Player 3 → Player 4
- Round 2: Player 4 → Player 3 → Player 2 → Player 1
- Round 3: Player 1 → Player 2 → Player 3 → Player 4
Continue the draft until all teams are complete.
What You’re Drafting
Each player builds their team during the draft. You must pick:
- Winner Pick: 1 queen you believe will take the crown
- Finalists: Top 3 or Top 4, depending on the season format
- Favorite 5 Queens: Your core team for weekly scoring
Winner and Finalists are selected independently and do not have to be part of your Favorite 5. This gives you flexibility — you might predict a long-game winner based on storyline and consistency, while drafting a weekly team built for points, chaos, and standout moments.
Your Favorite 5 Queens are the engine of your score. They earn the bulk of your weekly points through placements, performances, and all the unpredictable madness that unfolds each episode.
Choose carefully — because in a Snake Draft, hesitation costs you, and watching someone else steal your pick is part of the game.
Draft Option: All Star Brackets
If you’re playing during an All Stars season that uses a bracket format, your draft works a little differently — and honestly, a little more strategically.
At the start of the season, each player must draft 2 queens from each bracket. This creates a balanced team across the entire competition and prevents everyone from stacking just one side with obvious front-runners.
It also keeps the early episodes interesting, since you’ll always have someone to root for no matter which bracket is competing that week.
As the competition progresses and the show moves from the final bracket round into the semi-finals, each player is given one optional swap. This swap must be made before the first semi-final episode airs.
This allows you to:
- Recover from an early elimination that wrecked your lineup
- Double down on a queen who’s clearly gaining momentum
- Make a strategic pivot based on performance, alliances, or pure chaos
The swap is limited to one queen only, so choose wisely — this is your one chance to course-correct before the endgame.
By structuring teams this way, the bracket system stays competitive and fun for everyone:
- Every player has representation in each bracket early on
- No one gets completely wiped out before the semi-finals
- Everyone is guaranteed at least one queen to root for in the final rounds
After the swap window closes, the game continues as normal using your updated team. Points, bonuses, and scoring all proceed under the standard rules.
2. Weekly Scoring
Points are awarded each week based on how your Favorite 5 Queens perform in the episode — from challenge results to runway presence to how they navigate the pressure of the competition. This is where your team really comes to life, as every win, stumble, and standout moment directly impacts your score. Consistency can build a steady lead, but one explosive episode can completely shift the standings.
- Win: 20
- 2nd Place: 10
- Safe: 5
- Bottom Two: -5
- Eliminated: -10
- Lip Sync Win: 5
- Maxi Challenge Win: 5
- Maxi Challenge Low Score: -5
- Any Other Win: 3
- Weekly Total
3. Weekly Predictions
Each week, players may submit predictions before the episode airs — and this is where the game really heats up. It’s not just about the team you drafted anymore; it’s about reading the edit, anticipating storylines, and trusting your instincts. A bold prediction can give you a serious edge, while a wrong call can cost you. This layer adds tension to every episode, turning casual watching into a weekly gamble where every guess has consequences.
- Correctly pick the episode winner: +5
- Correctly pick who goes home: +5
- Predict a double save: +10
- Predict the lip sync winner: +3
4. Season Bonuses
Season bonuses are awarded at the end of the season and represent the ultimate payoff for long-term strategy. These are awarded to queens on your team. While weekly points reward performance in the moment, these bonuses reward players who correctly read the bigger picture. Picking the right winner or finalists early on can create a major advantage, making these bonuses a powerful way to climb the leaderboard or secure a late-season victory.
- Correct Winner: +30
- Correct Finalist: +15 each
- Queen survives 5 episodes: +5
- Queen survives 8 episodes: +10
- Queen makes the finale: +15
5. Rotating Bonus Categories
Each episode may include 5–8 rotating bonus categories selected by the commissioner or group — and this is where the game really comes alive. Think of this as your chaos engine.
These rotating bonuses are your chance to customize the game for your group, your sense of humor, and your specific flavor of Drag Race obsession.
Want to reward a queen for making RuPaul laugh too hard? Do it. Want to penalize someone for a crunchy wig reveal or a painfully awkward acting challenge? Absolutely.
Want to give bonus points anytime someone says a certain catchphrase, cries on cue, or clearly knows they’re about to be in the bottom? Go for it.
These categories can shift week to week based on the episode — Snatch Game, Rusical, Makeover Challenge, Untucked drama — or just whatever your group thinks is funniest in the moment.
Over time, you’ll start building your own mythology of recurring jokes, brutal penalties, and legendary scoring moments that only your group fully understands.
Be ruthless. Be petty. Be hilarious.

7. Strategy
Players must balance consistent queens, chaotic queens, and weekly prediction skill.
- Consistent queens earn steady points.
- Chaotic queens create big swings.
- Prediction skill can make or break a season.
8. Winning
At the end of it all, after the lip syncs, the shock eliminations, the questionable judging, and the absolute chaos of Untucked energy, it comes down to one thing: points.
The player who’s played it smart, trusted their instincts, and maybe gotten just a little lucky will rise to the top with the highest total—and take the crown.
But the real magic of Fantasy Drag Race isn’t just winning. It’s the running group chats, the wild predictions, the inside jokes, and the completely unhinged bonus categories that somehow become the highlight of the week.
Whether you’re fighting for first place, snagging a weekly win, or just holding onto your title as the creator of the most iconic team name, this is a game built on drama, strategy, and pure chaotic fun.
And yes—this entire thing exists because Traverse City Web Design is full of people who love RuPaul’s Drag Race a little too much and decided to turn that obsession into something you can print, play, and argue about every week. A completely unnecessary project? Absolutely.
A great excuse to show you what we can design, build, and bring to life? Also absolutely.
