We created this custom website for Traverse City, Michigan landscape designer Randy Huffman of Landscaping by Huffman.
At the time, we decided to hand-code the website in HTML rather than build it in WordPress, which has long been one of our favorite content management systems. That decision gave us more direct control over the design, layout, visual effects, and overall presentation of the site. It allowed us to include a number of digital bells and whistles that helped the website feel polished, distinctive, and memorable.
The goal was simple: create a beautiful website that reflected the quality of Randy Huffman’s landscape design work.
Randy’s landscaping projects were visually rich, carefully planned, and deeply tied to the natural beauty of Northern Michigan. He needed a website that would not look generic or interchangeable with every other landscaping company in the region. His work deserved a custom online presence that felt elegant, established, and professional.
The finished site did exactly that.
For many years, the Landscaping by Huffman website helped present Randy’s business as one of the standout landscape design companies in Traverse City. It gave potential clients a strong first impression, showcased his work, and helped turn online visitors into real leads.
We have just recently retired the site, but it served the business extremely well for nearly 20 years.
That is one of the things we value most about this project. It was not just a design that looked good when it launched. It was a website with real staying power. For two decades, it helped support a local Northern Michigan business, introduced new customers to Randy’s work, and quietly did its job in the background year after year.
A well-built website should not just be attractive. It should work. It should build trust. It should communicate clearly. And, when done right, it should continue helping a business long after launch day.
The Landscaping by Huffman website was a great example of that kind of long-term value. It was a custom, hand-coded website built for a talented Traverse City landscape designer, and it remained a useful part of his business for almost 20 years.
