Assistant Web Designer (Remote, Michigan-Based)

Traverse City Web Design is seeking a Michigan-based Assistant Web Designer to join our team on a part-time, freelance basis. This position is perfect for a motivated designer who enjoys working on a variety of websites and wants to grow with a leading Michigan web design agency.

About the Role

As an Assistant Web Designer, you’ll support our team with basic website updates, maintenance, and content edits across client projects. This is a remote position, but you’ll collaborate closely with our team through regular communication and scheduled Zoom calls.

We’re looking for someone detail-oriented, reliable, and excited to work with Northern Michigan businesses and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine updates to client websites (WordPress/Elementor-based)
  • Assist with content edits, layout adjustments, and light design work
  • Support the team with site maintenance, plugin updates, and basic troubleshooting
  • Maintain clear communication with Traverse City Web Design through email and Zoom
  • Contribute creative ideas and solutions to improve site performance and user experience

Qualifications

  • Based in Michigan (required)
  • Experience with WordPress (Elementor experience a plus)
  • Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow design guidelines
  • Self-motivated and able to manage time effectively in a remote environment
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to learn

Position Details

  • Type: Part-Time / Freelance, with potential to grow into a larger role
  • Location: Remote (Michigan-based candidates only)
  • Compensation: Pay is commensurate with experience
