Ann Loveless, 2-Time ArtPrize Winner — Quilting Northern Michigan Into Art History
At Traverse City Web Design, we’re fortunate to work with clients whose craft, dedication, and vision genuinely inspire us. Ann Loveless, the nationally recognized textile artist and quilter behind QuiltsByAnn.com, is one of those rare creatives whose work reshapes how people understand an entire medium.
Based in Frankfort, Michigan, Ann Loveless is known for her breathtaking landscape quilts that capture the dunes, forests, lakes, and light of Northern Michigan with astonishing realism. Using photographs as a starting point, she transforms real places into richly layered textile works through collage, mosaic, and free-motion quilting techniques she has developed over many years.
Ann’s work has been exhibited widely and accepted into prestigious juried quilt shows across the country, but she is perhaps best known for her historic success at ArtPrize in Grand Rapids. In a remarkable and still-unmatched achievement, Ann became the only artist to ever win the ArtPrize Public Vote Grand Prize twice. Her first win came in 2013 with Sleeping Bear Dune Lakeshore, a monumental four-panel quilt that stopped viewers in their tracks. She returned to win again in 2015 with Northwood Awakening, a collaborative panoramic piece created with her husband, photographer Steve Loveless.
These wins were more than awards — they were moments when thousands of viewers realized that quilting could stand shoulder-to-shoulder with painting, photography, and sculpture as fine art.
We’re proud to manage, host, and administer Ann’s website at QuiltsByAnn.com, ensuring that her work is presented with the clarity, care, and stability it deserves. From performance and security to updates and ongoing support, our role is to keep the digital foundation solid so Ann can stay focused on what she does best: creating extraordinary art.
Supporting Michigan artists is at the heart of what we do. Working with Ann Loveless — an artist whose work has become part of Michigan’s cultural story — is a reminder that great design and reliable technology matter most when they quietly support something meaningful.
