A First Ride Around Boardman Lake
Sometimes in the midst of designing websites, you need to step away from the screen for a little while. One of the nice things about Traverse City Web Design is that Boardman Lake is just a short walk from our office, making it easy to clear our heads and get outside for a bit.
There is a scenic hiking and biking trail that circles the lake, and over the years we have ridden parts of it many times. But these photos were taken on a day that felt a little different. This was the first day the new pedestrian walkway opened, and for the first time we were able to ride our bikes all the way around Boardman Lake in one continuous loop.
A New Way Around the Lake
That first full ride around the lake felt like a small milestone. What had once been a route with a missing link was finally complete. Instead of turning around or stopping short, we could simply keep riding along the water and follow the trail the entire way around.
The new walkway is a beautiful addition to Traverse City. It creates a stronger connection around the lake, opens up the trail system in a new way, and gives residents and visitors an even better way to experience one of the city’s most peaceful and scenic spots.
A Good Reminder to Step Away from the Screen
For us, this ride was also a reminder that good work often comes from taking a break now and then. A short ride, fresh air, and a view of the water can do a lot to reset the mind before returning to design projects, content work, and the everyday rhythm of the office.
We have ridden around Boardman Lake many times since, but there was something special about that first day — the first complete loop, the first ride across the new walkway, and the feeling of seeing a familiar Traverse City landscape made whole in a new way.
