We took a much-needed office planning retreat to downtown Detroit for the 2011 Movement Electronic Music Festival, formerly known as the Detroit Electronic Music Festival, over Memorial Day weekend.
It was awesome. The festival takes place at Hart Plaza and celebrates Detroit’s essential role as the birthplace of techno, bringing together DJs, producers, artists, and electronic music fans from around the world. Movement grew out of the original Detroit Electronic Music Festival, which began in 2000 as a celebration of Detroit’s electronic music legacy.
There was a lot to take in — the crowds, the lights, the sound, the energy of the city, and the visual rhythm of electronic music culture. For a design company, it was more than just a weekend away. It was inspiration.
Here’s a video we captured of DJ Ana Sia playing EDM and electronic music to a packed crowd in downtown Detroit. Ana Sia is a West Coast electronic music DJ known for energetic sets, bass-heavy sounds, and introducing audiences to forward-thinking electronic music from around the world.
